Yassu,( hello)So, this morning after a restless night, I wake up to my alarm at 5 in the morning to the most beautiful sunrise. I will TRY to describe my balcony view. So get ready to close your eyes and picture with me. Okay here we go, imagine a clear blue sky on the horizon with a slight haze resting on the horizon, now below the fog/haze There is the most beautiful blue water I have seen. A couple of ferries, small boats, and small local fishing boats grace the sea before the eyes. Add a couple of brilliant white white caps, oh yeah and I can see the country of turkey from my balcony. Now turn your eyes to the left and you see the hollywood image of Greece. Turn your eyes to the right and you will see trees and then another hotel( the hotel detail is not that exciting) now turn your gaze down to the street below the balcony and you will see the typical european street filled with mopeds. Okay now back to should I say reality? Because I sit here in a reality of non reality. I feel I'm dreaming a dream.
My day as I have said is like a Hollywood film. I do miss edisto being so close to the beach. Any ways on to the ride of a lifetime that I will not forget for quite a while. :(
Melissa I totally understand now what you mean by foreign driving being SO different!
Okay so some time had advanced.... It is now 6:45 am and we head down to an AMAZING real foods type of breakfast. The album cover photo for today is of Greek yogurt. Can I just say amazing? The yogurt looked a though it is made from scratch. ( how amazing is that? To top the yogurt you spoon on honey which would make any honey hater love honey. The honey is thick and oh so tantalizing.
Oh did I mention the food here is another type of dream Which does NOT make me miss the pre packaged grocery store chemicals sitting on every major American grocery store. It makes me cringe at the fact that I placed in my body french fries that will NEVER digest. Any ways I will truly miss Greek cuisine. Greek cuisine makes me so thankful for the real food movement.
I could go on forever about this breakfast, and may I add lunch and oh let's just throw in all meals in Greece, but this is only a minor portion of my day. After our very pleased stomachs were engorged with amazing food, my team headed out for an amazing practice. I would like to take this time to thank the stables we are riding at this week. Bandalise, the stable manager is so nice. When I asked him how long he has been riding he replied in a thick Grecian accent "10 years" Bandalise has a beautiful family who welcomed our team with open arms. I truly feel welcome in this country.
Riding went well today. I love horses. I loved watching Banaliese tend his horses. Even though the language was not of my native language the universal language of passion ran deep in his every move with the horse. I am continually amazed at the genuine warmth of the native residents on the island. Leah, one of our personal guides who is full of passion at the young age of 16. Leah is so sweet, loving and fun. Thank you Leah for being an increadible guide.
First day was amazing. Now onto the rest of our journey.
