"A STORY ABOUT JOSH'S FARM" - a short novel by John Kenneth; Head boy of Jolly Mercy School and student of P7 class:
"Once upon a time in a far away town called London, there lived a fine young man called Josh. Josh was a farmer and had the best farm in the whole of London. Day after day Josh worked very hard on his farm. Josh's farm was in a beautiful valley and a gently flowing river passed through his garden. Josh's neighbours used to say to Josh that his garden was as beautiful as a garden of Eden.
Josh grew many foo crops on his farm. he grew millet, maize, rice, potatoes and bannanas. He also grew groundnuts, peas, beans and many types of fruits. Some of the fruits he grew were oranges, mangoes, paw pius, guavas and passionfruits.
A big garden of different types of fruits is called an orchard, and every child in London town was welcom to Josh's orchard. Whoever visited Josh ate as many fruits as he or she could. In those days buying and selling of fruits as never heard of. Josh also kept many animals on his farm. He kept cows, goats, sheep and rabbits. He also kept chicken, ducks and turkeys. Among his birds there was a special c*** which Josh had named tick-time.
Tick-time was the time keeper of the whole of London town. Very early in the morning Tick-time would crow "Cock-a-doodle-do Cock-a-doodle-do Cock-a-doodle-do" morning after morning. Tick-time would crow "Cock-a-doodle-do Cock-a-doodle-do Cock-a-doodle-do". Whenever he crowed Josh and his neighbours would wake up and go to dig in their garden.
Josh had a special he-goat called Handsome. Handsome had a beautiful body and a smooth, shiny skin. His skin was coloured black mixed with white spots. Everybody who saw Handsome wished he or she had goats as good-looking as handsome.
All of Josh's neighbours took turns to their she-goats near Handsome. Every morning one of the neighbours would bring a she-goat to be tied in a post near Handsome. The owner of the she-goat would bring a basket full of bannana peeling for Handsome to eat. Six months later, the she goat would giv birth to Baby goat. Most of the young goats in London town were black with white spots. They looked like their father; Handsome."
I just thought this was an entertaining story from a very strange kid! He's had malaria recently so wishing him a speedy recovary. Will be updating with an actual blog soon and we are starting work on the toilet on Monday!! Big thank you to everyone who has donated. Any one who is thinking of donating or hasn't got round to it yet we will be using any excess on providing children with mattresses and mosquito nets, when they would be otherwise sleeping on dirt floors and rags.
Much love and thanks!
