So I don't have a lot of time to go into details just yet, we have a tour scheduled that I need to get dressed for. However thus was in fact the best weekend that I have had since coming to Italy. Florence was absolutely beautiful and the fact that it is a bit smaller then and Rome and we were able to get out into the countryside a bit more made all the difference in the world. We arrived Friday mid afternoon, where we had an amazing lunch and since I sat with the Professors I partook in their pitcher of wine. Though I don't normally drink a lot of wine this Tuscan Red was excellent, it had a very light taste I ended to having about 4 glasses, clearly I was very happy for at least a few hours ;) We then had a tour of the European Union Institute, the only one of its kind. It was set against some of the most beautiful scenery. But the tour was very interesting and the dept. head spoke a lot about the kind of graduate and masters degree programs they offer. After the tour we went back into town where we stayed at 4 star hotel that was actually pretty nice. Rather then sleep, since we were they such a short while, my roommate and I went wandering around taking in the sights. I took a lot of pictures that I will be sure and post later. The Duomo was fantastic and and David actually lived up to the hype, which I was pleased with. I also had a wonderful dinner of Spaghetti alle Vongole, which is basically steamers in a kinf of butter/basil sauce, quite excellent. In the morning I went and did some shopping, apparently Florence is known for their leather goods so I went and checked some of the local shops and took pictures until it became time for me to catch my train. After coming back on the Eurostar, I was in desperate need of a nap but wasn't lucky enough to get one because it was white night in Rome. Notte Bianca is when everything in Rome stays open all night and everyone tries to stay awake to see the sunset, for obvious reasons I didn't make and passed out around 3:30 in the morning. This week for me in going to packed full of school work and preparing for my presentations next week. My roommate and I are going to try to go to Naples next weekend for a night to see Pompeii and Vesuvius. Got to go, Ciao!
