Friday 16th July
Hi All
Just a quick one this week.....
This week we have been back working at the first school Teikunu Primary which is about 20 mins walk away. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday we were making more teaching aids for them. It was a good job it wasnt anything manual as we all felt really tired! I really like it at that school, it seems more laid back and the Headmaster, Gabriel is really nice.
On wednesday we were helping out at a local farm harvesting and thrashing maize. Before dinner we were harvesting it out in the maize crop field. It was really annoying as there are these horrible black plant things that cling on to you for dear life and they kept getting in my socks and annoying the hell out of me. Also ontop of being live bait for bloody mozzies. they've had a field day on my ankle and back. Grrr (eventhough I am sleeping in a net). After dinner we thrashed it from the cob into bowls and it was really sunny so caught a few rays.
Today after our weekly meeting we watched a DVD called "Barack"....it was really good, you should watch it. Its a documentary with no speaking about the whole world and the impact man has. Its one amazing piece of film and you can download fro free off the net.
Hannah made us fish and chips for dinner today so we were all happy bunnies. After Dinner we went back to the school to do some teaching. me and Mille taught Class 2. I usually go and speak to their Teacher Anne when I'm there so the kids know me a little. We taught them about the improtance of washing and preparing food properly and finished off with the Hokey Cokey outside Lol. they love it and its easy to teach! Anne just left us to it with the teaching. I enjoyed it but they were quite shy. Anne gave us some roasted maize to say thank you.
Tomorrow we are going to our host families. I am going to make them vege pasta with green pepper, tomato and courgette.
On Sunday we are going into Nairobi to the market and to get a nice coffee and some nice food.

....update
Sunday 18th July
Yesterday (sat) me and Jas had a really good day at our host family. We made them the pasta. they loved it and were really interested in a different method of cooking. Elizabeth made us some deep friend banana cake things. they were good minus all the fat :S Baby Elisabeth was on form with her smiles so we took lots of photos. Margaret and Helen who are Elisabeths daughter in laws were really sad to learn we only have a couple of weeks left. They want us to visit again!
Today we went into Nairobi. We had coffee and cake for BREAKFAST at 9.30am hehe. I had cappucino cake, it was lovely. Its always so much hotter in Nairobi as Nderu where we live is at a high altitude grrr. We went to the Maasai market to get some bargains and then for an italian. We arent used to the large portions so we all left some.... yes I left some food, not like me at all.
Been here two months now. Its absolutely flown. Know for a fact I'll be coming back again someday :)
