We had such an amasing time !!
The first morning we had in Pahia we did one of the local walks up the the top of a recommended view point. The views were great reaching far across the harbour over to Russell in the distance. (check the photos at some point). We then went on a speed boat called the 'Excitor' which went incredibly fast all over the bay - and even through 'hole in a rock'. The waves were choppy and the rain began to come in quite quick, but it was complimented by the drivers taste in music ranging from the Beatles through to the Led Zepplin which became rythmic to the crashing on top of the waves.
That afternoon we then decided to rent some scooters from the hostel we were staying in and got the ferry over to Russell. We had about 3 1/2 hrs wizzing all over this historical town...i would definately say that it was the best way to see a place. We were by no means 'Hells Angels' - but...we still made a lot of noise with the tiny engines and raked up about 60km by the end of our session (petrol cost $2 for the day....SO GOOD!)
Day 2
We were hoping to go kayaking and try and get to 'haruri falls', but the rental place was closed - so we drove. We had to drive through a golf course on the way - and neally got hit by a stray ball!
We then headed to the west coast to Omapapa (?) where we got a local ferry and tried sand boarding - surf-board on sand dunes...you go very fast! Due to the season, will and i had the whole of the dunes to ourselves, very lucky and great fun!
Headed back down to Auckland that evening.
