After a very stormy night we were worried about the weather today. We made the decision not to go to the beach but still go to the church. After leaving lots of time to get to the basilica, we got on the wrong train! We ended up heading further inland in the opposite direction to Venice! Once we had caught a train back the way we came and to venice st lucia, we were still determined to make it to the church in time to use our reserved time slot and skip the queue. Henry navigated as we rushed through the streets of Venice, and managed to make it all the way to the other side of Venice, 15 mins before our allotted time. It was worth the rush as we were able to go straight into the basilica while many queued in the square. The church was beautifully decorated with intricate mosaics. We took a few sneaky pictures within the church and paid to go out on the terrace. Once out of the church we decided to take a water bus back to the other side of Venice away from the many tourists in the centre. The water bus offered a new perspective of Venice as we made our way along the grand canal. We then stopped for lunch and a crepe. The weather turned out better than we thought as there was only a few rain showers throughout the day.
