Choosing my cabin-sized backpack
Ipswich, UK
It''s getting closer and closer to the big day where i leave life as i know it behind and start exploring the world as a solo traveller, with me and my backpack. Literally just a cabin-sized backpack. I have been reading a few blogs and reviews about travelling and they all tend to advise that less is more in terms of how much you bring. So today I bought the bag that i will be taking around with me the whole way, so it has to be durable, hand luggage size and comfortable. Having a smaller bag isn't just handy as it allows you to get around easier but it also also means you don't have to pay for checked in luggage, saving a s*** laod of money on flights!
After a few searches on google, the CabinMax rucksack kept appearing on the screen (designed to fill the dimensions of the hand luggage allowance). This looked quite cheap and probably wouldn't last very long, which was later backed up by its 1/5 for durability on several reviews. I could buy this bag for about £15 on ebay, but my backpack is probably one of the most important items I'm bringing so I should be looking for quality rather than price tag.
I ended up with the Osprey Porter 46, which is a 46 litre bag and rated very highly on TripAdvisor as a cabin bag. This brand was recommended to me by the local manager of the outdoor shop, Blacks. Its seems like a relatively simple, good quality bag and at £90 hopefully it treats me well.
