Typing this in a net bar in Xi'an which stinks of cigarettes. We had a great couple of days in Yangshuo, with a river cruise, a day of cycling, and the amazing Impressions of San Jie Liu (google it dad) - thanks for the recommendation Rog and Barb.

Unfortunately Louise isn't too well today, and we had to cut short our visit to the Terracotta Army. She's sleeping in the hotel - I've nipped out to stock up on water and check out transport options to Beijing. Nothing serious wrong, don't want to alarm anyone - I think she's eaten something which didn't agree with her.

Not sure that getting drenched on the return leg of our cycle trip helped either - and it completely killed my camera :-( The thunder and lightning was an interesting addition to the aforementioned show though - it was in an incredible natural setting which the lightning enhanced greatly, if slightly scarily. I haven't been so soaking wet in quite a long time - my walking trainers still haven't dried out, and are pretty smelly right now...

I'd better go back and check on Louise - more from Beijing, I guess...
