Hello all!
I'm so sorry for not updating the journal sooner, its been a bit hectic and access to Internet is a bit sporadic!
Anyway I'm having a fantastic time and will try to tell you a bit more about our travels so I don't bore you too much!
We first spent a few days in Ko Samui, soaking up the sun and we were very lucky to miss the rain as the rainy season just finished. Got sunburnt on the first day (as always happens) and decided to do a day trip to Ko Tan, a lovely deserted island and spent some time snorkling and kayaking with our two guides.
Following on from Ko Samui we got a flight up to Chang Mai. This was a totally different experience as we did a 3 day, 2 night trek into the northern hills to meet the hill tribes there. The scenery was amazing and it was quite hard work trekking in the heat but we made it and spent the night dancing round the bonfire with the tribes and singing songs. We had to sing a song from our country so you can imagine it was pretty funny Hazel and I singing the proclaimers and the flower of Scotland to the Acka hill tribe! Oh by the way I'm going to start doing a tally of the no of mozzie bites i have (like Bridget Jones and her ciggies etc) I'm up to 13, 10 of which are on one leg so I'm looking great - I will be joining the dots soon!
Following Chang Mai, we head to Bangkok for a few days and so sightseeing round the Grand Palace, see a massive gold leaf reclining Budda and then meet our group for trekking through Cambodia to Vietnam.
I am now sitting in the hotel at Siam Riep, Cambodia and it is an amazing Country. Although very poor, the people are so friendly and determined to make it a better place. We have been to see a few temples and have a 5am start in the morning so will go soon. Angkor Watt is tomorrow and I can't wait!
I miss you all and am actually wanting to see some snow would you believe! Hope to hear from you soon, all for now Jo xxx
