10th July
We're in San Francisco! Walking from the Golden Gate Bridge, we met a group of Jedi Knights! When we finished chatting with them we carried on to pier 39, watched a magic show then got some very yummy smoothies. Mine was mango, passionfruit, lemon and lime, Jack had strawberry. We saw an old submarine, it had torpedoes! When it was in action there were 60 men 78 days 2 toilets and 1 shower!

Arrived in Yosemite today, set up camp in a forest where we had to store all our smelly stuff (not smelly pants!) and food in a bear proof locker because otherwise they would smell the food and get it from the car they can even smell food when it was in a can and apparently they like shampoo too!! Jack was fascinated by the locking mechanism, lucky he isn't a bear! From there we drove through Yosemite to glacier point, on the way we saw a coyote (like a small wolf) and a brown coloured black bear! Brown bears are extinct in California. Glacier point had a great view.

Today we are at Yosemite, but this time for the whole day. So we went swimming in a river that was very cold, luckily it wasn't as cold as Crater Lake. Mirror lake was our next destination. On the way we went to a little pool that we swam in. It was a lot nicer than the river. When we got to Mirror lake it wasn't very much like a lake or a mirror- it was like a shallow river, but we went in it anyway. Further down my mum saw a snake swimming in the water but my dad told us it would be ok to swim in it anyway! On the way back we made a detour via a grove of giant sequoia they were so wide you could've driven your horse and cart through them!
14th July
It's my Mum's birthday today! So what are we doing today? Well we are driving through Death Valley of course wich is the hottest place on earth, with the highest temperature ever recorded - that was in 1913 when it reached 57°c, today it was 53°c so guess what? My Dad forced us to go on a mile walk to see some special fish that weren't there! They had the sense to go somewhere cooler and wetter probably.
We spent the the night in Las Vegas, it was huge with lots of shiney lights and crazy people. Our hotel had a pool and a great big tower that people could jump off tied to a bit of string. We went out for dinner and had a spicy curry, because that is my Mum's favourite. Heading to Utah tomorrrow.
