I had a 4 hour flight from Perth to Sydney starting at 12 am and arriving at 6am in the morning because of the time difference. This meant I had 2 hours sleep because of the horribly cramped plane and all the usual plane anouncments. I get into Sydey then got a double decker train (so cool!) into town to meet Seumas. He was staying with a family friend near the station so it was easy for him to get there so early in the morning. It was raining quuite heavily when I arrived but Seumas had he foresight to bring 2 umbrellas with him! He didn't however remember the way back to the house so we could drop off my massive bag. After some consulting of google maps we managed to get there and we dropped our things off and headed off for a guided tour of Sydney by Seumas. First of all we headed to circular quay to grab a coffee and breakfast then a view of the Sydney harbour bridge and the opera house. Sadly the views weren't the best as it was raining pretty hard but it was nice to wander around anyway. We then decided on an inside activities so we first headed for the aquarium! On the liss of aquariums I've been to, it's pretty high up on the list. There were so many big sharks, cool fish and also great company. After the aquarium we went to the wildlife place next door. THis was also preetty amazing with soe tazmanian devils, wombats and koalas. Sadly we couldn't spend that long here as we were meeting Seumas' family friend for lunch. She is such a kind woman! After lunch she took us to a few cool things around her work such as a birdsong exhibit down a backstreet.
Because the weather was so rubbish we decided to head to our nizt night's accomodation with Seumas' cousin near Bondi beach. We didn't get down to the beach as we got caught up showing each other pictures and telling each other some cool stories of our travels. Bridget and Benoit (the couple we were staying with) were so welcoming and they loved hearing about what we've been up to. They also had some great stories and they were generally great company. I was shattered and they had to get up quite early so bed early for us.
The next day we went down to Bondi. This was a mistake. It was too windy for umbrellas so we wore swimming trunks and I wore my raincoat while he got wet. The waves were massive!! I didn't want to take any pictures so my camera wouldn't be broken but not that amazing views anyway. We then got on a bus to Watson bay, a usually brilliant viewpoint of the sea. It wasn't very pleasant here so we headed off to get some fish and chips then got a ferry to manly, where some of Seumas' other friends lived. I found it amazing how many friends and family he has in sydney! They had a friend who came over to talk to us about our route. He is a seasond campervanner and had lots of great advice about everything. After a good nights sleep, time to pick up the van!
