We left Kilifi on the 2nd after waking up late, packing up the boat, meeting more lovely people and packing the car. We were heading for Tsavo west national park where we stayed 3 nights in an old game wardens house called Mboyo lodge. It was such a lovely house run by two lovely staff called David and Callum. It is overlooking a waterhole where lots of birds and beasts come to drink with Mt Killi in the background. Outstanding. That night as we relaxed with a couple of shandies and fish pie we looked outside and a small herd of elephants was standing there drinking from the waterhole. So so amazing! what was even more amazing was a herd of 18 came by later and was there for 30 mins. Luckily there is a balcony where we could watch all of this happening and still be safe! We then looked round the lodge and found that an abandoned hut next door was home to about 200 bats that came out at night and ate all the moths flying around any lights! such cute and pretty animals!
