Alrite ladies, gents, boys and girls
Cheers for your messages in the last few days, its great to hear your thoughts and remarks that are fuelled by jealously and bitterness. Just to please Gavin "im the most pedantic t**t in existance" Jackson, this journal entry is being written by Alex, so I will no longer get confused about which narrative im writing in!!Alright!!!
First things first, we have a must-tell story for you that occured just minutes after writing our first journal entry back in Nadi. Essentially, me and josh got into a taxi with a "forceful" driver to say the least (bt there all like that in the town center, so we werent at all concerned) however it soon become apparent he was absoloutly of his t*** drunk. Drivin like a maniac he was swaying round roads and pedestrians with equal vigour. Until, that is, he pulled over to pick up....wait for it.....a Fujian policeman!!!!The policeman sits in the front, me and josh are in a state of pure bewilderment by this point, and the driver continues on his rampage. It soon becomes apparent the copper is the drivers brother and the man behind the wheel is soon begging his sibling to keep schtum about him being completely wrecked!! His brother obviously obliged and jumped out of the taxi as soon as he could (cheers mate!!). Anyways the driver then offered us a beer a mile or so away from our destination and me a josh politly refused. Due to this the driver was enraged and demanded our money immediatly, josh and i, thru fear more than anything quickly handed over the cash and, would u belive it, as soon as the transaction was made, the car broke down!!!!!!!!Circumstancial or what!!!Tbh me and josh were grateful to be able to jump out in one piece - we're laughing about it now, but at the time - fook me - it was a tad on the scary side!!!!!
Neways - bck to travelling thingy - the flight from Nadi to Auckland seemed like bognor to chichester compared to the long haul flight we had done the week bfore. However it did give us enough time to watch the worse film ever made!!!"Mistress of Spices". Please. Everyone!!. Avoid this film at all costs!!!!!!
For the first time on the trip me and josh arrived in Auckland with absoloutly no idea what to do - we had no accom booked, no idea how to travel from the airport and little n.z cash on us. In spite of all this, me and joshy grew into ourselves, and proved our traveller creditials to the max. By the evening we'd arrived safely in Auckland City, found a cool room at the international hostel and explored the city. Ahhh, the city i hear you cry????whats it like???? well, we both agree its simply stunning!!!A complete contrast to that of Fuji's tropical beauty, Auckland is the city London wishes it was - clean, modern, safe (the ppl are warm and friendly) and exciting. There's a buzz to the place which you only feel in other great places like Paris and New York (and fratton and lavant). Testament to this, me a josh spent the first day just walking, gawping, taking in everything this awesome destination had to offer!!
Today though, we got to the business end of things - where to watch Liverpool at 8.45 in the morning that is!! Josh was understandly desperate to find the appropriate bar and it came in the form of "The Fast Track". We preceded to stay in there for three hours, enjoyin a fair few bevvies on the way, and watch the mighty scouse overcome those dirty Catalonians. Of course, then we needed a few more drinks to celebrate!!! Following this magic start to the mornin, we headed down to the viaduct basin where all of NZ famed yatchs and boats lay - pretty stunning - you can see why they take there sailin so seriously down here. The afternoon was spent up the SkyTower, which at 328m high, is the tallest building in the southern hemisphere and makes the spinnaker tower in pompey look like Ronnie Corbett!! It offered us some wonderful veiws of this wonderful city, in fact we liked it so much we popped back up there in the evening to see Auckland at night - equally impressive!!!
Oh yeh, one more minor thing, me and joshy, decided to do our first extreme thing here in Auckland - we jumped off the tower!!!!!!!! It was one of the biggest adrenaline rushes of our lives - you fall fast and smooth for around fourteen seconds at around sixty miles an hour!!! The rush was so great, me and donny did it again!!!!! At this point i must say a special thanks to josh's mum who had pursuaded me to keep a close eye on josh as he crept to the edge of the tower preparing to jump. I can honestly say, I have never seen a human being more petrified in my life!!!Unfortunatly no photos, but his face up there at the top of the tower will stick in my mind forever!!
We've got another night in Auckland and then off to Taupo to do some skydiving on the tenth - apparently your dive gets filmed and you can pick the soundtrack to the dvd. I was thinkin "Alive" by P.O.D?? what do you think gav???all suggestions welcome???
Me and josh are gettin on like peas in a pod still, early days though, we know!!!Are biggest enraged debate so far has been who would win in a fight between James Bond, Superman and The Terminator?? Once again, all suggestions welcome on the message board!!
Thats all for know folks, hope you enjoyed your fix, and like any good dealer, we're keep pumping out the good stuff!!
Quote of the Week (so far) - "Two pints of Steinlager please"? It was half past eight. In the morning!!!.
Beer Test -8/10 Steinlager - lovely jubbly, by far an away the pick of the local beers. "QF" and "Red Lion" were woeful in comparison
