Okaaaaaaay so i wrote a mammoth blog last night then the computer went and crashed before i had saved it! that'll teach me a lesson to leave it so long before i update my blogs eh??so i was telling you about our week here at Palita lodge...Sunday we arrived at Koh Samui on a propeller plane - crazy but surpisingly comfortable flight. The airport was beautiful - really setting the paradise island scene, even the toilets were luxury with an enormous tropical fish tank!!we got to the ferry terminal no probs - but it was not your typical ferry terminal, rather a ultra picturesque and chilled out little wooden pier - we were very happy with how things were looking! when we arrived on koh phangan we jumped into a pickuptrucktaxi and trundled along the dusty streets to our hotel in Haad RIn, and were met with a delicious glass of freshly squeezed orange juicem and our bags had magically arrived in our pretty little bungalow when we got there. we ate dinner at the hotel - i found my favourite thai dish - seafood pad thai - and got going on the cocktails, caz on her G n Ts... after dinner we took the 5 steps further down to the beach to see what was going on. it was buzzing, we happily wandered around the shops and bars, and settled down to watch the fire show.Monday was spent lazing by the pool and beach, more cocktails, g n ts, dinner at hotel again (as turned out to be the case every evening as the food was just so good) and headed to the beach again. we bought a bucket from the bucket people lining the beach who would call out and jump up and down to get your attention - v funny on the first night! - you could play games with them to see who would call the loudest!lol we settled down to watch the fire show again (caz's favourite thing in the evenings) and soon found ourselves joining in fire limbo and running over sticks of fire...hmmm at least we didnt join in on fire skipping!!!!!!! Tuesday we lazed by the pool and beach again and booked two day trips, had an early evening as we had to be up early in the morning. however we did manage to watch another fire show and also get an hours fulll body massage in before bed... very nice!!!Wednesday we went of a safari tour of the island, in one of the taxipickuptruck things - fantastic way to see the island's little towns and villages, also the views were spectacular! FIrst stop was the elephant trek, and before we got on the elephant we had time to coo over the baby monkey (or i cooed as caz got peeeeeed on by the baby monkey...) who had a bath as punishment.... the actual ele trek was great, we had a great trainer who took hundreds of photos for us, and i was told to sit on its neck for the way back down the mountain - tricky, and a work out!!!!!!(much to caz's and the trainer's amusement as i was clinging on for dear life!!haha! when we got back the baby was having its nails painted...CUTE! more animal mishaps for caz as she then got bitten by this baby sloth type thing because it was afraid of the dog that was walking up to it... We then trundeled back through the streets to a chineese temple which was beautiful and had a stunning back drop - photos would best describe these. after that we were off for another of my beloved jungle treks - oh joy. i actually did very well and managed to keep it together for most of the way - so much calmer than i was 6 weeks ago so i am proud of my achievement there. luch was great and again in a spectacular setting. after lunch we headed to mae head bay for some snorkeling - beautiful beach but was only in the sea for about 5 minutes before i got attacked by nasty biting sea lice! not keen to carry on getting bitten, most of us made a hasty exit from the water to enjoy the sun on land. the last stop of the day was the koh phangan waterfall. - not nearly as good as the timote one i visited the other week so wont go into that one there. that evening we had very bad news - the full moon pary had been cancelled due to stupid local elections... we were hopeful that we might be able to move our flight back a day... in the morning we called up but found no luck as all flights were full. what a shame. however our spirits were still up as we were off on another tour - to koh tao and a national marine park. ah what a day! amazing chilled out beauty spot for snorkelling/relxing on boat/jumping off boat in my case. would definately stay on koh tao in the fur\ture. lunch at the national marine park was ok but we gobbled it down quickly so we had time to explore, or stagger, up to the view point (our legs were killing us from the trek the day before) - the walk up there was an experience in itself - all wooden planks, very rickety with many planks missing style!!!!the view was just breath-taking. we eventually dragged ourselves back down - for posing and sunbathing on the beach of course! that evening we headed to the beach again, and felt positive that some sort of party was going to happen on firday regardless - there were now thousands of people around, the atmosphere was electric, and the bucket people told us they would still be there. so all looked good.friday was spent on the beach, resting up so we had plenty of energy for the evening. the staff here had put on an amazing buffet, and we were all given garlands of orchids!!! after dinner we went to paint ourselves up with the flourescent body paint we had bought. when caz had finished her masterpiece on me, she went into the bathroom, only to run out screaming words i'll not repeat here... basically two VERY large red spotted lizard things had taken over our bathroom - it was hilarious! they were huge!!!!caz went to get some macho male help, and as we stood on the beds the men bravely removed them from our room lol funny! so when i had finished my 'artwork' on caz we happily headed down to the beach, convinced that a party was going to still be happening. how wrong we were. there were no lights, no music and no chairs. RUBBISH!!! just a few (hundred) people sitting on the sand. we were so dissapointed! so we headed back to our hotel and sat down with a couple of people we knew, and tucked into a bucket anyway. i didnt feel so good in the morning - the mix of margaritas and samson did not feel good - i woke up early and fell asleep again on the hammock on our balcony. we slept by the pool all day as it was overcast anyway. In the evening i had a lovely foot massage, and we wandered through the shops for one last time. SO this morning its raining, and we are off to Phuket for a night then off to Koh PhiPhi for the rest of the week - very excited!!!!ah hope i havent bored you all too much - i have definately learnt my lesson of leaving it so long to write a blog...Hope you are all well???love Jo Jo xxxx
