Gunma, Japan
Day 1 Mon-Tues On the plane
My first experience in Japan has been amazing. From being on the plane, with the Japanese air-hostesses that meet your every need, (I thought I would gain 10 lbs with how often they wanted to feed us), their smiles and courtesy really made the 14 hour ride go by smoothly. That and the fact that I had my own personal television, with a remote, a window seat, and a squishy stuff mouse, (a gift from my 6 years old cousin) whom I have affectionately named Pip-squeak as my pillow. What better way to spend 14 hours than watching planet earth and staring at the vast expanse of the pacific ocean out side your window?
I of course had a window seat. I can count on one hand the amount of times in my life since I first got on a plane at the age of 4, that I have not sit at the window. And in my opinion a non-window seat flight is not worth talking about. But I could not go to Japan, knowing that I did not have my own personal view. Next to me sat a young Korean guy, (judging by the fact that he watched Korean drama on his computer, and did not understand the air hostess when they started taking to him in Japanese) who slept almost the first 10 hours of the flight, lucky. And next to him was a Japanese man, who started of his flight with a bottle of wine. How quaint. And here I sat in my row on JAL (in my opinion the nicest airline EVER!!!!! Fly JAL -free advertising- ^^; ) as a young missionary going to Japan, over 6,000 miles from home.
I am still waiting to land. That had to have been the smoothest landing of my life. My first glimpses of Japan were beautiful. This was the place that I had waited almost 9 years of my life to see. God is so good. As I sat in my seat and thought of my dream coming true, I realized then how deep the Father's love was for me. It was a humbling moment.
