La Gruta cave and starfish beach
la Gruta cave was about halfway across the island so we had to have the bus driver drop us off and hope to catch a cab or the next bus coming from Bocas. I've always loved going in caves but this was the creepiest cave I've ever been in......
There were bugs I've never seen before! They were a cross between what looked like a cockroach and giant spider with antennas.....crawling all over......everywhere!!!!
Then there were the actual spiders! Gigantic black hairy ones with huge fangs the size of my hand! Let's not forget about the bats, thousands and thousands of bats! The cave went in one side and out the other and we considered not going the last 20 m because of the thousands of bats and all of the bat s***, aka guano! But we put our heads down and powered through it as to not get any in her eyes!
We left the cave and started walking towards starfish beach, we figured we would just hitchhike or catch the next colectivo bus headed that way. We walked over a kilometer and ran into some road workers who said it would be at least another 8 km...... So we flagged down the next taxi and just paid for a ride, we were really glad we did as it was quite far!
The walk down the beach was beautiful and we got there we met a guy who let us use his snorkelling equipment to check out the starfish, huge ones that were everywhere!
We got a bus back to town, Sebastian and Julia decided to stay in tonight. Myself and another woman I met at the Hostel decided to go out to Aqua lounge!
