Last entry from India today. I am quite glad to be moving on to Viet Nam after 3 weeks, India is amazing and an awesome place to go but it is quite hard, constantly hassled wherever you go. However that is not so bad now, you develop a side you didnt think you had.
That said, since our overnight train back from Varniassi to Delhi, signalling the end of our tour, we have had a good couple of days. We had a car sorted out to take us to Jaipur that day, where we had heard was really nice. Yesterday was a bit mixed, we checked into our hotel and then went to a fort about 10 minutes away. We took an elephant ride up to the top which you always think would be fun, however, when we got there, we just felt sorry for the elephants. It didnt look like they were having much fun. After that we had a look round the market, but it wasn't too great as even in India everywhere closes on a sunday, so there were only a few stalls open. We then went to the Amber fort, which overlooks the whole of the city. The drive up there was a bit sketch, but the view at the end was amazing, really worth it.
Today we drove to Pushka, another holy place. Jaipur and Pushka are both in Rajastan,. Jaipur being the capital, Rajastan is like another state in India. Pushka has no alcohol, no meat and no eggs on the grounds of it being holy, and yet it is loaded with weed (marijuana mum and dad). Anything on the menu with 'special' before it means that it contains the drug. This city is so nice though, it's actually not really a city, it's more like a town. There is a massive lake in the middle of it where we will go tonight for sunset, there is a nice little cafe by it apparently. Tomorrow we head back to Delhi, a nice 7 hour car journey, I think it is my turn to go in the front (YES!!) but before that we are going on a camel ride. We saw some camels on our way down to the village and they looked so sad, so it's probably gonna be a case of feeling sorry for them again. Then Wednesday night we fly to Singapore and then onto Viet Nam, where it is a little more touristy. I know that is not what you want, but i think we are all in need of going out in the evening and having a few drinks, in India you cant really do that.
So to sum India up as a place I would say; dirty, backward but one hell of an experience!
