Greetings, don't worry no babies or thieving kids in this post!
I headed down to Hue after Hanoi, a terrific city and easy to get around as it's pretty compact. I hopped on the back of a motorbike with a guide called Mr Trung and had one of the greatest days so far. He took me out to ancient tombs and a pagoda at prayer time when the monks were out in force. He'd fought in the Vietnam war so was pointing out places of interest and he was so friendly. The highlight was an incredible drive through miles and miles of rice fields at sunset. And apparently by december it'll be law in Vietnam to wear helmets. Besides from us, not many people were wearing them!
Hoi-An was my next stop, a quiet town renowned for a tailor on every corner trying to flog you a suit! I braved a bicycle and rode out to a terrific beach on the outskirts of the town and got knocked about by some mammoth waves. I also squeezed in a trip out to the My Son ruins outside of Hoi-An, a good warm up for Angkor next month in Cambodia. After a hellish overnight bus to Nha Trang I've been here two days now. To be honest, it's a bit of a let down. It's supposed to be the premier beach place in Vietnam, but it's pretty dirty and polluted. I have however spent the morning diving which has been incredible. It took me a while to remember what I learnt in Thailand, but it came flooding back eventually. The clown fish were my favourite, they swim right up to your mask, I think they're admiring their reflection. So vain... I've met some great people here, so I've been hitting a few too many bars but I am on holiday...
Next stop Dalat in the mountains and then onto Mui Ne, another beach place, where you can apparently try sand boarding on the giant sand dunes. Now that sounds fun...
Hope everybody's well.
