So im currently sitting in johannesburg airport waiting for the third and final flight to get to australia. With a nine hour wait for the next flight its given me a lot of time to think and reflect on my last 3 weeks.
Without a doubt Zanzibar has been one of the most amazing places i have ever visited! I have never felt so welcome anywhere. To feel safe walking alone through an african village at night isnt somethig i thought id feel! The people are also the happiest and the friendliest in Jambiani, to walk through the village and people actually want to speak to you at length about your life and share theirs. Its makes a massive change from people just wanting to sell you something. I would definetly like to go back.
I am also glad in a way that i extended even though i got ill. At the end of the first week i just didnt feel ready to leave however after 3 weeks i know feel i have achieved everything i could of done and am ready for the next thing on the list!
A slight negative is the project has raised more questions than it answered in terms of what i want to do in life. Im not entirely sure i want to go into teaching! Still a lot of thought on this one is needed i think!
So on to australia and im sure of a lot of other challenges await like trying to find a job! Thats going to be fun!
Im also still a little shocked that Mazsons hotel (the hotel i stayed in the first night i arrived in Zanzibar)let me stay in the hotel free and arranged a taxi to the airport for me. Now that is customer service!
