Hi there all. Well where I am up to? Erm Wellington over and then headed over on the ferry to the South Island. An early start and a 3 and half hour ferry journy mad it to picton were we met the bus to Nelson. the drive down was prtty awsome. Driving through vineyards as far as the eye can see with snow capped mountains on either side. We stopped off at a little town to do some wine tasting. Its were they make Marlborough wine (Oh I am so sophisticated). Ye it was bloody good by the way. Well Nelson is an interesting place. Very laid back summer town. Apparently has the most days of sunshine a year in Nz, which does not dissapoint as the sun is beating down. the hostel booked into is a very intersesting place. Hippyish comes to mind. it seems that most people have dredlocks and drink funny looking tea. No I do not have dredlocks and have not sampled any funny tea. The place had a jacuzzi so spent a good while in there.
The next day had to explore the national park (Abel Tazman). It is called this after the explorer who came to NZ for some reason. Dont know what exactly. Decided to book onto a tour. Booked for half day walking the coastal track and then half day Kayak. However did not get off to a good start as the bus forgot to pick me up! Did make it there howvere half hour late - pants. Walked the track then paddled the rest of the way home to see the seals on the nearby island. The veiws on the walk were pretty amazing. could spend a good few days walking the tracks.
The next day was onwards to Greymouth. We stopped over to see a few sights. Pancacks rocks. A strange rock formation that looks like layers of rocks pilled up like pancakes. Again traveling through this part of Nz is amazing veiws. Lush forests. Snow capped mountains. Realy amazing sights to see. Greymouth however is hillarious. 'The hills have eyes' comes to mind. Apologies for those from Greymouth and anyone who likes the place but dear god how odd this little town is. Its a minning town, like the hillbillies gold panning. the only thig to do realy is to check out and sample some of the home brewed ale they make so obviously had to join one of those trips. We went to the brewery and I thought they were going to heard us tourists up and cook us or something but it did turn out to be an ok night. We took full advantage of pulling our own pints when the tour guide was not looking so got full money worth. Will kind of be glad to leave in the morning. Its a national holiday weekind this weekend - Labour day or something so the town is full of locals and people form nearby around getting siked up to race some motorbike race tommorrow around the streets.
Will be moving my adventure on so speak soon. Love lots xxx
