Friday 11 was a shopping day. Had heard about The Block at Orange and the Westfield Mainplace so we planned to go there. Got the shuttle to the block and it was great. Probably spent over 1 hour in the bookstore alone. There are so many shops and you feel like you are going one step forward two steps back trying to get around to them all. After we finished there we headed off to Westfield. A major shopping center like the block and you would think they would have taxi stands, not the case but the girl at the information booth kindly called one for us and off to Westfield we went.
The Westfield is huge with alot of shops. I could have spent the rest of the afternoon in Macy's alone but I had to move on to other stores. Picked up 2 pairs of sneakers (Nike & Asics) for $100 - omg got nothing else to say about that, how freakin cheap, even Andrew is impressed and enjoys the shopping over here. Finished off in Macy's with perfume and Levi jeans (Levis cost $5). Ran across the road to the Barnes and Nobles bookstore and spent quite a while there too, then they kindly rang a taxi to get us back to the hotel - it had been a long day, was about 7pm by that stage but with daylight savings it is feeling late at 4:30pm here at the moment.
Now the taxi ride, where do we start, hmmm the guy was a bit creepy and I don't know who he thought he was impressing with his stories, hey they could be legit but well probably not. So asks us where we are from, yeah Australia "oh took an Australian couple to the airport tonight, on their honeymoon and off to fiji - then he adds "they were not interested in a threesome"........ewwwwww. So some of his other stories were he went to Metallica a couple of nights back, that would make it over 3000 odd concerts he has been too, apparently he has won bets with people who do not believe him. One of the first concerts was woodstock where he apparently brought an extra 2 tickets which he did not use and wrapped them up and kept them. He put them on ebay where the offers were around $5000. Says he has been to Australia on "business" not sure what that business is, but he had a nice young 25 yr old woman to show him around. When he found out we were off to Vegas he told us he goes there about 41 times a year as he is a professional gambler - okay but why are u driving taxis, yeah might be legit until he said he is a high roller where it is $1/4 million to buy in to the games. He counted down to the day he was 21 and could play and has been playing ever since, hmmm why is he still driving taxis, apparently he also has his own tournament. He became professional and gets tax breaks, stays in the penthouse or whatever at Ceasars and only plays a 1/4 of what regular guests pay. Anyway you make your own mind up, we got a few tips for Vegas and got the hell out of there when we got to our hotel. He probably is a really nice guy, but just has some elaborate stories, he could also be telling the truth and he owns the taxi company and enjoys meeting people - WHO KNOWS.
Got home that night and headed off to California Adventure again. Did not stay long as it had rained all day and was still raining when we were riding the coaster. All in all though a pretty good day and whilst I am trying to curb my shopping as, what it has not even been a week, it is hard to do, loving it :-)
Take care everyone, like I said it is cold and wet here so hoping it will clear up soon and it will not ruin any of our days out and about.
