Off to the Dead Sea then to Petra.
The dead sea was so nice. Did not go into it but we got to see the salt build up along the edges and the cities on the other side in The West Bank. Most of the beaches are closed off u have to go thru the hotels or the spas to get access. They have all kinds of signs up to let u know u are now below sea level. We drive south and saw Lots Wife- God turned her to stone - overlooking the DeadSea. The land changed many times from rocky, to sandy, to light colored to red, back to sandy then to volcanic. Our driver took us to see Little Petra first. It is a smaller version of a Nabatean city with smaller walls and cuts onto the stone. At Petra the walk to the Suk is short but the walk thru it is pretty long . We just kept walking and walking. Then there it was. The picture I posted. It is almost unbelievable!! From there you go into the rest of the city. It is huge. Lots of people must have lived here at one time. The Nabateans even visited the Romans then came back and built their own theatre. Very schrewed people thy were. Did not get back to Amman till almost 730. Whew. Mt Nebo and Juresh tomorrow.
