Hi from Queenstown - so much as happened since our last blog - we arrived in Franz Josep with our sky dive booked for later that evening but unfortunately the plane broke down so it was cancelled until the next day - all that worrying for nothing. Next morning very early we made our way to Fox Glacier free wheeling down the hills because we hadn't checked for diesel and we'd got very little left and it was touch and go if we'd make it to the airfield. Once there with no minutes to spare and nerves jangling they thrust us into red and yellow jump suits and after a very short briefing up up and away we went. We jumped out of the smallest plane ever made at 12,000 feet the views vere spectacular we could see the ocean at one side and Cook Mountain at the other. The guys were great characters and before we set off I was absolutely pooping myself and VA was screaming like a banshee with excitement. I was thrown out first and VA hurtling after me and at point we were dangling and chatting side by side. The DVD is great by neither of us would pass a screen test for Hollywood. I wouldn't do it again even though it was amazing but VA is thinking of going solo. After our jump I was an emotional wreck and spent a considerable time trying to compose myself for the next venture.
In the afternoon we then boarded a helicopter and landed on the Fox Glacier to go hiking - it was great but we would have preferred to just be in the helicopter and forget the hiking. We had a guide from Nepal who was good but the cold soon got to us and we looked forward to getting back in the helicopter to get back to a bar.
After our dinner we then embarked on our longest journey most of it in the dark but before nightfall the scenery again was breath-taking and we could only imagine what it was like one night fell. We eventually got too exhausted to drive and when we arrived at Lake Hawea we decided to get a room for the night. BUNK BEDS.
The next morning we set off again and soon passed through Wannaka - it's on a huge lake and absolutely beautiful and so sophisticated.
We didn't stop over and needed to get on our way to meet up with Jason.
WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We arrived at Queenstown mid afternoon yesterday and we've partied ever since. Jason and his beautiful home with the most amazing views and his lovely friends have looked after us so well. We've both been sick today with horrendous hangovers but we've still managed to go jet boating on a fast flowing river - WE LOVED IT.
Tonight we've booked to go to Milford Sound via small eight seater plane - it will take an hour to get there we will have a two hour cruise including continental breakfast then fly back for lunch with Jason - i guess that will include some sort of alcohol. We've run out of time to get to Milford via the van so we had no choice but to go via private jet.
Just remembered that for our tea today we've had Queenstown's most famous Fergburger with chips - highly recommended.
Jase VA and I have just returned from the top of mountain after having an amusing gondola ride with an assortment of very strange Asian tourists who would require at least six months in VA's salon to be acceptable.
I guess there won't be anytime to update blog before Christchurch - Jase says drinking takes preference.
VA sends her love to her MUMMY and DADDY xxxxxx
