I have now finished my 4 weeks with CVA and enjoyed it very much. After going back to Townsville from Magnetic Island the weather was great with hot sunny days with temp about 85 with some days up to 90. We worked at several locations planting trees clearing weeds or repairing the walking paths on castle hill a popular place for locals to walk although that part was hard work in the heat.We had 8 volunteers staying in the house 4 Koreans 2 Japanese a Belgium and I, we all took in turns to cook which was good as we had a different meal every night. My contribution was home made beef burgers with mushrooms and cheese topping which went down very well. On Good Friday I went scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef, I did 2 dives both about 20 minutes each. It was fantastic swimming with the fish and around the corals the colours were stunning as were the different types of fish. It found it easy to breath with the air tank but had problem equalizing the pressure in my ears and managed to pop my right ear causing a small hole in the ear drum. I had to go to the hospital to get it checked as I was flying the next day, fortunately I was able to fly but have to get it checked again before my next flight which will be to New Zealand so I am keeping my fingers crossed all will be ok.
I am now in Hobart, Tasmania where I will join a group on an eight days tour of the island. I will post some more pictures the one of the fish and coral were taken at an aquarium but are exactly what I saw when I was diving.
