I'm in Iran!
Can't believe i am actually saying that! Feel pretty surreal walking down from the border with turkey. Had a little picnic, as it was a beautiful corssing , surrounded by mountains, mount ararat towering above and a beautiful day.
Came across with an australian guy, Alex, whom i met in Syria! And we have made our way via savari's (shared taxis) and buses to Tabriz (north west of Iran).
It's great to be back in a cheap country after Turkey which was comparitvely exorbitant! accdomodation = 2 quid per night and bus for 4 hours was 1 pound. taxis around 25 - 50 p. nice!
Major highlight so far is how friendly the Iranian people are. Which is super friendly. The friendlisest people so far and i have only been here one day!! Saddest thing is already i have met a couple of young guys who feel so restricted in life. they probably will never be able to leave this country. cant talk to women unaccompanied and have pretty grim job prospects. its pretty sobering.
Off to have a hamam after a hard day walking! take care!
