Day 10
Moving from Lake Louise to Jasper. We were up early to catch the sunrise on Lake Louise, if I had time laps cameras it would be amazing , but these one will suffice. It is now time to leave and set our course for Jasper . We will be stopping at a number of scenic spots along the way on a road called the Columbia Icefields parkway. The first stop is the crows foot glacier. Which by all accounts this glacier has little time left due to climate change. Our next stop was Bow summit and the photo will tell also about Lake Peyto. Mistaya Canyon is our next stop , we walk a short distance and we come across a bridge ,from here we see the beautiful clear pale acqua water changing down river forcing itself between the small open that confront it. The noise as shoots down between the narrow walls of the canyon just adds to the spectacle.
We now set ourselves for our main stop of the tour Athabasca Glacier ,but along the way we will stop at any place that sounds like it may have something of interest, We had only been driving for a short time when we noticed cars pulling over , BEARS!
Two of them mother and cub , they looked jet black ,but to many people stopped and they got frighten and by the time we reach them they had strutted Of into the bush ,we got some pics but not good. Off we go and then without warning a Hugh black bear run straight across the road 150 meters in front of us ,no chance for photo , but tremendously exciting. No more bear for the rest of the trip we are now at the Glacier . Ticket in hand we go to get our pass and the girl your bus is not to 4.00 pm,it is now 11.00, not happy Jan . We now need to decide will we stay or will we go , the go won because there absolutely nothing more to do that will not cost the bomb. I took some pics and then we were on our way ,Shirley still not happy. a couple more look and see and eventually we arrive at the Sawridge hotel our home for 2day. The drive was picturesque and not one domestic so maybe automatic cars make a big difference.
See you all .
Love Shirley & John
