Today we are to make our way by plane to Sabi Sabi earth lodge to being our very last safari. It was a perfect day and the view from the sky was amazing. I have taken a few photo from above just to show the variety of land scraps we could see. We arrived at the lodge and were take though the dos and don't s, and given the schedule for the next three days. Once this was completed and our room ready , Nadia the manager escorted us to our room , now this has the wow factor, it's unbelievable . The photos will explained more than I can . We settled in than went to lunch , and low and behold while eating lunch a herd of water buck strolled within 50meters of the luncheon room which is fully open except it has a roof to keep us dry while this type of thing is happening. Lunch was a simple open sandwich , Shirley had roaster vegetable with pesto, and I had spicy chicken and avocados ,it was real good and I was happy to eat chicken that had not been cooked dry. The wine we had was South African Chardonnay probably the best wine on tour so far. You can tell that food and wine have improved because we are now happy to tell you about them , lets hope that this trend continue.
At 4.00 p.m we start our first safari in Kruger Park,Mike is our guide and Patrick is our spotter and tracker,we head towards the east section of the park. The sighting was a Kodo which is a large antelope ,than we saw a small est of antelope called a Duiker.
It was lovely afternoon sunny light breeze blowing, when suddenly I spotted a rhino. It was a white rhino and they are grass eaters,we took some great photos they will be in the album. The group was excited by this sighting and as the sun was going down we stop for a drink , a sundowner, and waited for the still of night. Carrying on the safari it wasn't long before we heard that leopards were close to us,a couple minutes later there they were a male and female, and in this type of big cat the female does the advancing. Again some great photos to brag about when without warning the group witness the rarest of leopards' acts ,them mating. We followed them for awhile and the female continued to force herself upon the male. We arrived back at camp still disbelieving of what we had just seen.
Dinner was set in an open area with candle light tables and open fires , the food was a piece of art , each dish technically done, amazing , didn't take the camera , will correct that tonight .At last we have food and wine to write about.
This already has been a fabulous experience and I feel there is more to come. That all folks
Luv Shirley & John
