The last safari at Sabi Sabi started the same as they had for the last two mornings ,up early ,gone by 6,but this time the weather had change to very cold . It would be probably the last one ,but as we had said all along "we are only going to be here once." In this kind of weather the animal try like all earthly creature to find a warm place , I can tell you these warm place must been good because most of them were invisible. Luckily for us this would be a short safari as we had to check out and be gone by 10, we did see one or maybe two new animals which were of the antelope kind , a young elephant and old white rhino standing face to face chewing on dry grass , the size of these two still amazes me. Mike and Patrick had done their best but weather condition didn't help. We went back to camp early , showered ,had breakfast , said our goodbyes and left by car for the airport to fly to Cape Town to finish off the African safari adventure with some relaxation.
The flight left on time , ,2.15 pm we arrived around 4 every thing was going to plan ,baggage was quickly through, man waiting to take us to our hotel , Cape Hope , it was flowing just perfect. A phone call to the driver and suddenly the funniest thing had happened, the man had pick the wrong people, but believe it or not there were two Gardiner couples land on the same day at the place going to the water front, crazy ah. It all worked out fine and we arrived at our hotel still laughing , checked in , beautiful room, confirmed our booking for the Signature resturant ,up stairs to freshen up ,and heading to table mountain , no tickets ,back to reception not a problem except credit card is not working, ring CBA in Australia they say all is fine, hotel try there card it not working either , web site for ticket not working ,I feel better , decide we will buy when we get there . All good get on cable car , the view is spectular ,the car rotates inside so you get a 360 degree view all the way, up and down. On top you can see for miles ,if given the chance it would be a tourist thing I would recommend.
Dinner was 8 ,we refreshed and head down with great expectation and we were not let down. We had a degustation with matching South Africa wines , it was one the best degustation Shirley and I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy. Just for example is the first course,Truffled celeriac soup ,duck liver parfait, porcini powder mushroom brioche, the taste with the wine or without Devine .
So we enter the last day s of our safari knowing that we have not left a stone unturned and have seen thing we both thought about but just didn't realise we would see and we know that we are lucky to be alive. Tomorrow ,the wine tour, this could be the Pisa resistance. Whose wine is better in our eyes, find out in the blog.
Over and out . Luv you all,
Shirley and John
