Hey people who are following my audacious Australian adventures. Sorry I have not been keeping in touch lately, but man have I been having fun! Last time I left you guys I was leaving Tom Price. When we came into Tom Price we stopped out at Karajini National Park. On our way to Newman we decided to stop at Karajini National Park again, because we had too much fun the first time. We drove in and decided to stop at circular pool. If you look at my pictures circular pool is the pool that looks like a circle! The gorge is once again absolutely amazing. The hike down to the pool was quite challenging, but once we got to the pool it was completely worth it. The pool was super cold, which felt great since we have been sweating from the hike. There were waterfalls, and little cliffs to jump off from. Of course being myself I had to jump from it. It was a great experience. We then hiked back up to the car right before sunset, and I realized I left my hat done at the gorge! I think that's the third thing I last on this trip, O well! We then booked it to Newman and settled in for the night. I once again pitched a tent and made it my third week that I was tenting. Newman was just like Tom Price, but a little less scenic. We did the same routine work all day, go home, cook, then sleep. On Tuesday there was a French Canadian that showed up at the caravan park. Her travels consisted of traveling by herself in a 4x4 Land Cruiser across the outback. We are talking the red sand, can't see anything for miles, outback. She was a very cool individual. She is actually an aspiring photographer. Some of the photos she took of the outback I felt bad for looking at them without paying a fee, they are really good. That night we decided to go to a local karaoke. I have not heard any country until that night. There was an old couple that would not stop singing country! It kind of felt like I was at home for a little bit, until they played the cotton eye joe with a techno beat behind it. That was probably the worst song I have ever heard so far. We then decided to go back after we sang a couple of songs and have some more drinks, and call it a night. This week was the last week that we, me fay and Daniel, would be seeing Kim. So we decided to have some fun on Saturday. We went on a mine tour that morning. The mine is owned by BHP. BHP literally owns the town Newman, because the company needs a place for its workers to live. That mine itself makes about 2 million dollars an hour!!!!!!!!!! The wheels on some of dump trucks cost about 100,000 dollars!!!!!!!! It was probably one of the most impressive holes in the ground I have seen. I had a fact sheet with all of the cool statistics on it, but guess what I lost it! We then came back and laid around the pool until dark. We then had ice cream and watched avatar. Our team leader, Kim, bought us all one of those Mr. People books. You know the little ones you read when you're a kid. Guess which book she bought for me. She bought me Mr. Forgetful! Thanks for that Kim.
Now its just Me, Fay, and Daniel and we had a week to get from Newman to Darwin. We, I mean Dan, drove all the way from Newman to Broome. On the way we stopped at eighty mile beach. We are talking a beach that is eighty miles long that consists of white beaches and turquoise water! Talk about paradise, because it is in the middle of nowhere. We ended up getting to Broome and crashing. The next day we went to the beach which was ranked one of the top five beaches in the world. It was freaking amazing! Me and dan decided to try out some surfing. The surf wasn't high at all just enough to get up for a while. I got up my first try! Ya for me! It was really fun. I can't wait till I get to the gold coast and I can do some proper surfing. That night I decided to stay up and drink with some of the people at the backpackers. The best part about traveling and staying at a hostel is meeting people from all over the world. I met that night two guys from Germany, one girl from Germany, three girls from the Netherlands, and two dudes from spain. We all stayed and drank till four in the morning. What was cool was that a furry tailed opossum decided to check us out to see if we had any food. Check it out I took pictures of it. So the next day we woke up and went to the Willie Creek Pearl farm. We took a nice little tour. We were the only people under the age 50 on the tour! We learned pretty much everything you can know about pearls. There are three types of oysters they use. One makes your original pearl colored pearls. The other makes your gold, to pink pearls, and the other one makes you black to greenish blue pearls. They actually insert a little round piece into the oyster for it build up around it. Now I know how to pick a pearl, and see if Im getting ripped off. We then booked it to Halls creek and stayed at a really shady caravan park. There is an Australian movie called wolf creek. Its about a couple of backpackers who get picked up and slaughtered. Well the movie is based on a true story that happened around Halls Creek, which is where we stayed for the night!Next stop on the road trip was Kununarra. We were supposed to work there but we saw how nice it was, and plus we were on the road for a while, so we decided to not work and go for a bushwalk. We then booked it to Darwin and then again met up with some more people that we would be working with.
