The following morning bought us yet another Greyhound journey to Townsville; our stepping stone to Magnetic Island and the Full Moon Party!!!!!!
A half hour windy trip over on the ferry bought us to another slice of paradise, and we were soon to discover that Magnetic Island had a very little population........try nobody! We jumped on the local bus and drove through the cute small residental streets dropping off all the school kids outside their houses as we went, finally arriving at Base Hostel our new home for the next 3 nights we checked in to "The Sanctuary" (luch girls only dorm with white linen, towels and duvets!!)
A stroll down the sea front to the local "foodworks" to purchase dinner later we were settled and partaking in the "Base Quiz" for the eveniing. Day 2 on Magnetic Island saw us hiring a little pink topless car ("Mrs French"), which felt like Fred Flintstones to be honest! Hilarious fun, it even had a pink furry steering wheel and accessories!
We drove to all the accessible beaches, (to drive the whole length of the island it would probably take you approximately 20 minutes!) and had lunch on a very exclusive private beach just with us as visitors! We then did a Forts Walk to an awesome look out with all old gun points along the way, with some more exploring!
Our final day saw us dropping off "Mrs French" and then being asked to drive a blue display car back to the hostel, we sneakly used this to buy our goon for the evenings Full Moon Party and then once parking it up, an hour later cheakily using it without asking to get some money out of the only ATM on the island!!!! Bad we know, but hey they were never to know and the keys were in the ignition!!
Some sunbathing later we were then getting ready with our new roomies Nicola and Jane for the Full Moon! After some card/drinking games in the dorm, whilst consuming conflakes (oh the backpacker lifestyle.....no dips and nibbles for us!) we were then dancing away to some "Swwwwweeettttt" house tunes! With Hannah also receiving a lovely pink tatoo to keep with the theme!!!
The following morning we were then up and out onto the ferry at 9 travelling up to Cairns on our final Greyhound journey with driver Alan and his excellently pressed navy shorts and white knee high socks!!!!
