A most unexpected day. We were kept awake half the night with heavy rain - which was still going strong when the alarm went off (Sonny & Cher - I got you babe!) It prompted us to discuss different approaches to the day, such as running single hours, but in the end Greg just said he would stay near by. As it turned out, we ran the entire day without a single drop of rain, it made the world of difference. We did however have to contend with a very strong wind. A kilometer long bridge - the Dornoch Firth, followed by a long hill was a do or die moment and we were very glad to see and eventually climb into the parked van for a final rest before the final push of just 5.5 miles to finish the day.
All in all an excellent days running and driving of the camper. We are camped by the Falls of Shin! Tomorrow we start again at the Sands of Nigg! Today the number of miles left has changed from a number beginning with 8 to a number beginning with 7. Tomorrow we hit 100 just before our first break. The numbers are beginning to work : )
Apologies to John Shuttleworth, he very kindly sponsored us 25 pounds yesterday - because of our communication problems we didn't receive notification until this morning. So we WERE sponsored yesterday. Thank you John. And a big thank you to all of you who have sponsored us so far - suffice to say we are really earning it out here! (I know you think we are having fun!!)
Tracking update: the wonderful James Taylor at RAM Tracking, who has been working hard to solve the problem has identified a problem with a chip at our end, so he is sending a new tracker overnight to our next campsite, so we should be back on the map by Friday morning.
Well that's all the news for today - don't forget to look at the pics - Greg is doing a grand job of hopping out of his nice warm van, taking them and then retreating to the warmth of the cab. (This is a load of crap, the van is cold. Ed.)
