So, this blog will hopefully give you some idea of what I'm going to be doing, where I'm going and who I'm doing it with over the next year.

I'm Joe. At the ripe old age of 24, with the advantage/disadvantage of looking 10 years younger. It's not uncommon for me to undergo an ID check when buying a lottery ticket. One day, these youthful looks will pay off. Hopefully.
As you can probably tell from the title, I stand at a grand height of 5'4. 5'5 on a good day.

I've been working in York for the past two years as a means of funding this trip after I finished Uni in Nottingham two summers ago.

I've always had a love for the outdoors and seeing places. I visited various places around western and southern Europe as a youngster with my parents, before branching out further afield without them.
After visiting South America, Argentina specifically in 2005 with a World Challenge organised school trip for a month, I found a fondness for the continent.

I returned in 2008 with my best friend or just under 3 months, visiting Chile, Peru, Bolivia and then on to the USA.
I've always been pretty independent and willing to do things on my own, but that was the first time I had been such a distance without some form of overseer.
It was an amazing experience, one which will ensure that I return back to the continent some day, hopefully sooner rather than later.

So here I am, 24, no particular career, with a love of food and the outdoors, money in my pocket and the next 6 months completely free . . .
