At Iguazu Falls we all got visas to enter Brazil and crossed the border on a normal community bus (thankfully the driver told us we had to get out at the border crossing because as no one else on the bus was getting off we thought we didnt have to... Pretty smart, i know).
From the falls we went to Balniario Camboriu, a holiday town right on the coast. Here we stayed with our friends' parents, who treated us too well that we didn't want to leave. After 6 days of relaxing, and walking along the beach we went to Florianopolis, which is just to the south. We only stayed for a night but managed to pack in a small hike and tried some surfing as well.
From Florianopolis we took a 22 hour bus to Rio. And rio was absolutely amazing.
An absolutely beautiful city, we spent the first 2 nights in Lapa, in the downtown where we took in some brazilian nightlife and up to the Cristo Redentor and then on to Copacabana for 4 nights.
Our hostel was 3 blocks from the beach and we could easily have stayed there another couple of weeks. The beach and weather were amazing, and playing in the waves was so much fun it was like we turned 12 again. For 4 days we would wake up, have a cheap meal and acai drink from the restaurant on the corner, then head to the beach for the day. After we were nice and salty and toasty from the ocean and the sun we would head back by way of our favourite restaurant again, and prepare for another night in Rio. One night we went on a boat party that took us around and out of the harbour, and another night we paid $15 entrance fee for an open bar... Only in Rio.
We finally pried ourselves away from Rio to Sao Paolo where we stayed with our friend from Uni. He showed us around the city and his father came and took us to a soccer game (botafogo vs portuguese) and out for a brazilian bbq. The food and hospitality was amazing and we finished our trip of south america absolutely in love with brazil.
On August 15 our ten week trip together came to an end. As Collin and Jesse flew back to victoria i continued on to England, where I would visit family before heading off into Europe by myself.
