joe and rob travel fun
Flight was good, rob liked the water in funny foil tub. Got a bit lost finding our hostel after missing our subway stop and touring more or less the whole of the 'E' line. Arrived at about 3 so not too bad. Went to mall, mall is rubbish, went to eat at white castle where employees don't speak English properly. Annoying little *#"$! woman. Felt right at home in Queens especially with it being the most multi ethnic district of New York. Imagine a sweet shop, with a wide assortment of sweets. Most of them being licorice and only a few being sherbet. Let's just say Jeff wouldn't have liked it. The road near our hostel was about a mile and a half wide, taking about a month to cross, which got a bit frustrating until we discovered a subway stop on our side of the road down the street. Went out about 7 ish, subway to Time Square, which was bright and very big. They were filming something, which was nice. Walked a few blocks to the Empire State Building but didn't go up because of a 2 hour queue and jet lag setting in. Feeling like 3 in the morning, we went to bed at 10ish. Next day got up went to Central Park looked for the zoo, couldn't be arsed to look too far so didn't find it. Sat in the park people watching for a bit, nice day. Tube (subway) to Madison Square Garden Stadium, a guy tried to sell us tickets for the ice hockey, but was too steep, (plus we saw it back at the hostel later on anyway.) Then onto Empire State Building, usual. Then to ground zero which was nice. Then to downtown park ( can't remember the name). Then Staten island ferry to see sun setting behind Libby. Back to hostel for an earlyish night for very early morning bus to Boston. Signing out Joe and Rob.
