I thoroughly enjoyed the flight. I watched Johnny English Reborn, Tower Heist, a program about Cristiano Ronaldo, highlights of the Singapore Grand Prix and slept whilst listening to Family Guy. The seat in between me and a woman on her way to New Zealand was empty so we put the flight tracker on the TV in between us. I only had about 3 hours sleep in total on the flight. As we passed over Malaysia I could see lightening in the clouds below. Beautiful!
Arrived in Singapore just as the sun had risen. The airport is exceptional. Everything is very modern and tropical. Although when I went to go to the toilet in the airport I couldn't work out wether to wee or wash in it. Went on a free bus tour of the city almost straight away. It was very interesting. We stopped off at the oldest temple in Singapore to take some photos. Lots of incense sticks burning and being waved about by worshippers. It was nice to see so much of the island on the tour as I am here for such a short time. As soon as we get back I decide to head straight for Marina Bay Sands. I use the train system they have there. It's like a modern version of the underground or metro. So easy to use.
One thing I have noticed is everybody has iPhones. Everyone is doing something on their iPhone here. Everyone has different cases for them. So many people taking photos all the time too. Even on this link train service they are snapping away. As am I!
Marina Bay Sands is a luxurious 5 star hotel, but visitors can go to the top on the 57th floor to view Singapore. And wow! What a view! You can literally see the whole of Singapore from up there. Breathtaking views of the country, out to sea and along the coast where there are hundreds of boats in the harbour. The heat hits me quite hard up there. Thankfully I brought my cap but my toes were getting nailed. I could feel them little b*****s burning. Haven't got sun cream. Although it's quite cloudy, it's incredibly hot. The humidity is massive here too. I could have stayed up the top of MBS all day but I was getting hungry and wanted to see Chinatown.
Chinatown is absolutely mental. It's a bit like Camden town in London. Only more Chinesey. I find somewhere that does Singapores traditional and famous dish, 'Chilli Crab'. The lady just presumed I wanted a Tiger beer with it and opened one up and slapped it down in front of me before I had a chance to say anything. I think it's because I have a skin head and was wearing a football shirt.
It was pretty darn delicious. But got a massive shock when I payed. $51 for that and the drink. That's £25. No wonder they didn't have any prices on show. I only had $20 on me so had to go to a cash machine. It was nice food but that price is ridiculous. I mince around for a while after but the heat and the fact that I've only slept 3 hours in last 60 hours or so is taking it's toll on me. I feel knackered. I jump back on the tram to go back to the train station and start falling asleep on the tram. Having spak attacks again. I need to find a quiet spot in the airport to get my head down for a couple of hours. I find a few comfy seats facing various TV's. I pick a tv with CNN on and manage to fall asleep quite easily despite it being next to a cafe and relatively loud. I sleep for about an hour here then go for a wander. Typically then I come across a 'Relaxing Area' with reclined chairs, dim lighting and water features. There are computers with Internet available on for people to use 15 minutes at a time. I only needed 2 minutes to reply to a message from James on Faceturd. I need wi-fi for my iPhone is what I really need. This airport really is amazing, so many shops and food outlets. I needed some dinner so I went in search of the weirdest thing on a menu I could find. Baby octopus it is washed down with cold green tea. It was lovely. 6 baby octopus in a sweet chilli sauce. They gave me chop sticks to eat it with. I tried for a few minutes but wasn't getting anywhere and I was due to check into my Brisbane flight in 20 minutes. No time for this faffing around so requested some 'normal' cutlery.
Upon checking in to my flight bound for Australia I find out I have another window seat. Sweet!
Singapore airlines is definitely the best I've flown with. Love the hot towels they give out. It's pretty much the only washes I've had over the last 2 days. I'd love to request a couple more, get naked and give me whole body a good clean. After another delicious meal I fall asleep quite easily with the aid of a nytol.
