I am exhausted!! Tokyo is so spread out and really busy!! It`s actually really easy to navigate and find your way around.. The train system is out of this world!! It is full on.
Got in to the hotel at around 11pm last night. Got the Limosuine bus from Narita to Shinagawa then a cab to the Hotel. The hotel is pretty okay. It`s saving grace is that when you exit the lobby you walk straight in front and there`s Osaki station. VERY central.
Okay.. What did I do today?? Got the train to Roppongi and went up 52flights to the observation station only to have a freak out `cause it`s SOOOOO high!! The view was AMAZING though.. You could see all of Tokyo from it. It`s so high up that your ears feel the pressure!! Got the train around just getting off here and there to have a look around and just get a feel of the place.
Doing a little more tomorrow then off out of tokyo on Friday before heading to Kyoto on Saturday. Went into Shinagawa to work out how to get the train to Kyoto.. I think I have it worked out!! I`ve just got to work out what the difference is between a reserved and non-reserved train is!!
Oh yeah.. For all of you sweltering in the heat there in Aussie land.. It`s BLOODY FREEZING here!! Good thing I packed a couple of long sleeve shirts and jeans!! I bought a jumper in Cairns before I left so that is helping HEAPS!!
It`s really hard to put in words what Tokyo is like. It`s busy, energetic, vibrant and alot easier than I thought it would be. It helps that most things have an English translation with them. The trains, the stations, the street signs. The only thing that doesn`t is the Japanese people themselves!! You have to work everything out by yourself as it`s hard to get people to understand what you want. My fault in not learning a couple of Japanese phrases!! Everyone is very polite and they try and help you as best they can.
Okay.. Logging off. Going to sleep so I can start early tomorrow for the fish market.
Till then.
