This morning we rose early and made our way across the city on the underground to george street ready to meet our tour group for the blue mountains trip. Our driver coincidently was squirtal so i sat in the front and dj'ed again whilst he teased me about my hospital incident and various other things- good job im thick skinned! On the way we saw the olympic stadium where the games were held in 2000 i think. We arrived at the blue mountains national park and watched as 2 wild kangeroos had a fight it was so funny i could barely take photos as they had each other in headlocks and we kicking each other it reminded me of when my dogs playfight. I love kangeroos they have so much character and have little almost humanised habits.
We walked around the forrest and learned about the aboriginal ways of life that used to take place here. We saw the eucaliptus trees that were used as an antiseptic and the sun tree with a powdery bark that was rubbed on the tribes skin to act as sun block. We also listened out for the liar bird which can mimic every other bird sound in the rainforest as well as other sounds like the car alarm and chainsaw it was funny!
Next we went to the famous mountains which are blue due to the eucaliptus oil released from the trees and creating a blue mist when evaporating. This is a world listed national park and was a must see trip on our itinrary! We then did a 3 hour bush walk and saw all sort of waterfalls and lookout points as well as climbing 1000 stairs which was tough on a cliffside! We got a great overview of the mountains environment as well as the 3 sisters, the famous rock formations. We put clay on our faces and created echoes by calling out like the aboriginal tiribes would have and we went on the steepest railway in the world it was so scary looking at the valley beneath us! It is in the guinness book of records and has an incline of 52 degrees and avertical drop of 250m i was quivering! Today was simply gorgeous.
After avery dep sleep with me keeping up the dorm sleeptalking we walked to sydney aquarium passing the posh parts of town with theferrari and bently show rooms. Dad and andrew would have loved it. We walked through hyde park, queen victoria building the town hall and st marys cathedral. They seem to anemd alot of thier streets english names and i saw a york street, newcaslte and liverpool street. We walked past the posh restaurants at the river and looked at the menus (we could only afford to look!) and then went inot the aquarium where my favourute creature was the platypus. we sdaw sea horses, sea dragons, mini penguins, seals which reminded me of eve and turtles and we familiarised oursleves with the fish and coral we had seen whilst diving the barrier reef. I was also trying to find the thing that bit me in the sea and caused my face to swell but i didnt!
Later we got into our pjs early, cooked some pasta and opened some wine then did face masks and talked about our dream houses before an early night.
Today was my 2 year anniversary with andrew, i miss him!! I took gem breakfast in bed and we went to bondi to see the famous beachthen walked to the paddy markets and bought a little koala for my new car! Getting up early tmorrow 4am to get to the airport ready for our flight to new zealand. Loved austrlia. we have travelled 2720km down the coast i worked out!!! xxxxxxxx
