Yet again I have only managed to write my Sydney blog after I've left!! We're in Byron Bay at the moment further north up the coast. We arrived early this morning after a 13 hour bus journey which was fun!! I slept quite alot but cos I hardly moved at all my ankles swelled up loads!! Nice! Did a surf school this afternoon tho so that sorted me out! Was great fun- we decided that whilst in Australia we had to do a bit of surfing and may as well learn how to do it properly!
Had a great time in Sydney. Really, really loved the city and I definately envy Heather and Pete living there! Its such a pictuersque city and all the landmarks look so much more amazing in real life! It feels nice and clean as well unlike London. Its one of those cities that really has a bit of everything from harbours to parks to beaches to shopping etc etc.
We managed to do a bit of everything whilst we were there. We got in all the usual sights that everyone does and went round the city at both day and night. It looks really beautiful at night with all the lights on and their reflections off the water. We also did quite alot of beaching too! We loved Manly beach and went there a few times with Heather. We also went to Bondi a couple of times too and walked around the coast a little one day too.
As well as doing all the tourist stuff we kinda managed to live a bit of the local life too. This was cos we were staying with the friends that we had met in Fiji. They very kindly put us up on their floor so we saved a fair few bucks in doing that. It also meant that they took us out to lots of different places that most visitors to Sydney might not get to see so we were very grateful for that. That had a little boat that we went out on quite a bit so got to see some different beaches and one day we even went under the Sydney Harbour Bridge in it!! We cracked open a bottle of (cheap) champagne as we went underneath and had champagne and strawberries so that was a pretty memorable moment! As we went passed Heathers flat we waved to her and she actually managed to see us! Although apparently we looked tiny!!
A couple of the days we were there katy went to visit some friends who had horses in the Blue Mountains. I decided to stay in Sydney and instead spent the time with Heather and the gorgeous Alice!! It meant we had some good girly play time so that was nice! We went out to a place called Watsons Bay and did a bit of a walk and then rewarded ourselves with very yummy fish and chips from Doyles!!! In the evening we met Pete for dinner in Darling Harbour! What piggies we are eh!! It was lovely to see Heather, Pete and Alice and see for real where they actually live. Their flat is the most amaing place ever and I could sit and look out from their balcony all day! They cooked us some very yummy dinners too so thanks to them for that :)
Well I think thats most of the highlights from Sydney really. I'm sure I've missed lots out but have decided to try and be quick for once today! We are both loving the Australian lifestyle and think that we could definately live here at some point!! Have had lots of BBQ's too so its living up to its reputation on that front! I tried a Kangaroo steak which was really yummy but you have to eat it very rare otherwise it gets chewy, so the bit in the middle was pretty much still hopping!! I couldnt bring myself to eat that bit but the rest was very tasty!
Ok, shall send more news soon. Lots of love to you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
