Hi everyone,
Well the overland safari is over now much to my disappointment. I m really pretty sad about that I have had such an awesome time and want to turn around and start again! This trip has been one of best and I have changed a lot and am so glad I have done it, EVERYONE should come to Africa and LIVE and just experience everything!!
Since the skydive..which again was AWESOME we have been busy but had a couple of long drive days.
We went to this place that I can't remember at the moment where all the sand dunes are. It was a fun place to camp with all the sand storms flying around. Of course the tents were full of sand but never mind, it's an adventure! The guys cooking that night weren't enjoying it though. From there we did the bush mans walk around some areas of the dunes. It was very interesting to hear about the desert and the plant life and how to survive if you were lost in there. We saw tress that were dead but over 900 years old and still standing because of the earth. It was excellent. We then climbed up a dune and then ran down it, our bush man was crazy he just jumped the whole way down! We then climbed dune 45 to watch the sunset.
We then drove to Fish River Canyon and it was spectacular and so so hot. 42'c in the SHADE!!!We we all hanging out for a cold drink. We had a wander around, it looked like the Grand Canyon. It was so beautiful.
We camped at Orange River the next couple of nights and as soon as we arrived there we all ran into the sprinklers and cooled off, I have never felt heat like that it was so hot, too hot to do anything so we all sat around reading, playing cards and drinking cold drinks. the shop made a fortune out of us.
We were soon crossing the border to South Africa, I was sad to leave Namibia and it was just as hot in S.A. We went to a small place for the night and jumped straight into the pool fully clothed to cool off and the clothes were dry in like 30 minutes!
The next day we headed to Stellenbosch, checked into the hostel-no more camping- and headed off on the full days drinking, well actually the wine tour. we visited 4 vineyards and tasted some fabulous wines and cheeses and I had Springbok for lunch and then more wines. we bought wine to drink on the way to each vineyard. It was so much fun and a good way to finish up. One of the girls went crazy and then was sick everywhere when we got back to the hostel..heehee.
The next day we left for Cape Town, where we finished and are at the moment. When we arrived we said our good-byes and Nana and I left for out hostel. We are staying in Green Point at a hostel called The sunflower Stop. It is close to the waterfront where we spent the first day. It is nice there and lots of free entertainment, we had a look around and then chilled out at the hostel. I didn't realise how tired I was until I chilled out that night.
The next day we went up Table Mountain. We went arrived there we saw Hayley and Bob waiting to buy their tickets, it was cool to see them. We spent 3 hours up then wandering around. The cable car is so fast, it took like 5 minutes to get up and down. The taxi driver we had took us on a mini tour around the coast as he wanted to pick up a fare on the way back. It was wicked. We went back to the waterfront to book our tickets to Robben Island and saw Hayley and Bob again!
Today we have been wandering around Long Street and people watching and enjoying the city. We will meet our last leader tonight for dinner.
Will write again before I leave...
Love Jo x
