Hi Everyone,
Since I left Vic Falls we crossed into Botswana.
We changed trucks and there are now 5 new people with us and we lost 3 of the old guys from the first truck, it was really sad to say good bye for awhile but we can catch up in London.
We spent 2 nights bush camping in the Delta. I loved it!!! We were all poled in by people from the local village. It took a hour and it was so relaxing but baking hot in the direct sun over water, but great fun. We went on 2 bush walks while we were there. The 4 hour one was fab,we left at 5:30 am and hiked through the park. we came across Elephants and because we were down wind they couldn't smell us but when they saw us they ran off really fast. It was excellent as the dust was flying up everywhere, it was awesome to see so close. We sat around the fire at night and chilled out and swam in the water hole and had such a good time. I could have stayed longer.
From the Delta we went to Etosha National Park. The park is massive and we had to game drive to out first camp site (hard life). The camp site looked like an old prison and it was dusty and rocky the tent pegs were just balancing on the top of little piles of rubble. It was so funny trying to get them up. The sunset was amazing and then when it got dark we went to the water hole and waited for the animlas to come and drink. There was an electrial storm coming and the lightning was amazing. There were lions walking close to the tress and then they would roar to each other, it was freaky to hear with the storm and all and we were so close, just a fence separating us. It was truly amazing.
The next day we game drived again to our next camp site. They had a great pool there even though this old guy in white undies decied to go swimming and then strip off partly behind a chair but not covering everything. It was funny. At this water hole there were at least 40 Elephants drinking, babies and even a black Rhino that one of the Elephants scared off. I can't explain how amazing it was they are so beautiful and again we were so close.
Then we went to Cheetah Park. The family rescued Cheetahs and now have a safe farm for them to live on. There are 3 domesticated Cheetah's that we could pat and stroke, they were so soft like little cats. Then we went out with the guy to feed the wild ones. It was fantastic, thare are 15 wild Cheetah's and they came running out of the bushes to the van and were circling us. Then they got feed and it was so cool to see. They are so beautiful. It was a little scary to be that close as they were snarling and watching us and one jumped up at the van and when the meat was thrown out they were fighting for it. They all got some though.
Then we came to Swakopmund in Namibia. It is so cool here. The first day we chilled out and ate good steak (I have never eaten so much meat BUT it is the best in Africa) and then the next day we SKY DIVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was the best thing ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wasn't scared at all but poor Nana (Hayley) was freaking out and we ended up going up last. When we were getting dressed and all the gear on, her face was completley white and I thought she may not do it but she did! When we were going up in the plane I was fine, just chilling and then the door opened and there was so much wind and then Nana went fisrt with her tandem master and it was so fast, I was like S***!! Then I went over to the door and had to hang my legs out and put them under the plane. The wind was blowing so hard, it was sary. The video guy was hanging off the plane and I smiled at him and screamed and then we were off. We flipped over and over and then free falled for 30 seconds and I was loving it! I was screaming and yahoo-ing and the video guy was under us filming and taking pics and they we spun around and then the shute opened and we went through clouds and did circles and spins and then it was over and we landed (me on my bum) and I wanted to go again. What a fab thing to do!!!! and what a rush!!!
We all jumped from the truck, even our driver and leader. We went to the bar at the lodge to celebrate and what a night we had. It was such a funny place and a mixed assortment of people from us overlanders to locals and old farts and an OAP He-Man with long silver hair to old tarts. One of the girls went up to he-man to ask him if that was his natural hair colour as she has never seen hair like that before..how funny.
Today I am relaxing as the shops have shut at 1:00pm. We leave tomorrow, I really like it here, so cool.
I will update again soon
