Well, I'm at home in Cambridge, and do you know what the weirdest thing to get used to now I'm back at home is? It's not taking photographs of absolutely everything I do and documenting everything I get up to!! It's most odd not to have my camera on me at all times... I might have to turn into one of those people that has a myspace page and is constantly updating it!!!
My feet really haven't touched the ground since I got back though (which is actually a very funny way of putting it, as it it turns out the foot that I had x-rayed twice at Sydney hospital as it was all swollen and they said it was fine and to keep walking on it, is actually broken! Turns out I have fractured a metatarsal in my left foot and am now on crutches! Have to go to the fracture clinic on Weds to see what the deal is (might need physio) ouch!!!).
So as I say, it feels weird but normal to be at home - does anyone know what I mean??
I got back on the Wednesday, went into town on the Thurs to meet my sister for coffee, then my Dad said I could do some phone work at his office if I wanted to earn some money seeing as I am planning to go back to NZ/OZ.. was it a double bluff?? I don't know, but I went in anyway and it was sooo boring! I then spent the friday night at my sisters house and got the train to Bristol on the Sat morning to go to Anna's birthday celebrations. Then on the Sunday I went to Bath to stay with Gemma & Martin and their little one year old baby daughter Georgie. Met up with the girls I used to work with, which was lovely, on the Monday. Then Tuesday was all about babies. Came back to Cambridge on Weds as had my x-ray on Thursday (that's when they told me it was fractured), but went back to my Dad's office for the afternoon afterwards - to shred paper. For three and a half hours. It was the most tragic waste of an afternoon of my life! I then worked Friday as well shredding paper for SIX hours - this time i had the foresight to take my MP3 player though so I didn't go totally mad.
I then went down to Stansted on Friday night to see Madeleine, Dom & baby Archie and Rachel, Chris & baby Ollie, and Samantha - it's been so great to see all my old friends (although I do still miss my new ones of course!). Anyway, then got the train to London on Saturday morning to see my friend Samme and stayed with her and Dan Sat & Sun - went to Rory's birthday party Saturday night.... Got back to Cambridge yesterday, went to the doctors as have also now developed a hacking couch and a sore throat and so have finally realised that I need to have at least a week of doing NOTHING. Nothing. I need to rest - although my mother finds it hilarious that after "being on holiday for six and a half months" I would need to rest!! Ha ha ha, not! They don't tell you this when you go away: travelling really takes it out of you - it can be exhausting!
I've managed to get out of working in Dad's office this week, so now need to decide what to do with my life. Well, sort of... so, do I look for a real job or just get a temping job? I think the latter - then that leaves it open for me to book a flight back to NZ (which as long as I do it before the middle of October so I can start using my Working Holiday Visa) or to OZ (where a good friend from college is moving to in May, as she's being sponsored): as don't want to get a proper job again yet!
I will be living at home for the foreseeable future I should think. But it's weird: I'm such a hoarder (who, me?!) - but as soon as I got home and looked in my wardrobe and at all my old clothes and belongings etc, I just wanted to throw it all away and start again! Which is good I think - get rid of the old me (sounds corny I know) and be the new, 'intrepid explorer' me!!! So will try and sort all my stuff out this week.
Hope to see or speak to you all soon.
Bye.
Lots of love Jo xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
