Cathedral day!
Morning tour of Winchester Cathedral. Unique for its association with Jane Austin. Afternoon tour of Salisbury Cathedral. Unique for having the tallest spire in the U.K. Both interesting and awesome. Delightful concert rehearsal in Salisbury Cathedral.
Evening walk to the view point above Winchester. Worth the climb.
Dinner at Pan Asian restaurant. Most places close before 9. We were fortunate to find one open and good.

Lois Goodstein Jane Austen Regency Week celebrates the time the writer spent in Alton and Chawton. At the Chawton House Library on Winchester Road, you can enjoy a unique opportunity to get hands on with history and learn how to embroider a handkerchief using rare 18th century patterns. Led by a graduate of the Royal School of Needlework, you can learn historical needlework skills by working on one or two motifs using three simple stitches (stem, satin, and the ALWAYS-popular French knot). All materials are provided, and even though you will not be able to finish your work in the hour-long workshop, you can finish when you get back to Chevy Chase. Whew!
