Whitneys on Tour
We arrived in Bariloche, in the Argentinian lake district on 8th December after a 34 hour 3 stage bus ride from El Calafate which started at the gruesome hour of 3am. We had heard good things about Bariloche from travellers we had met so after all this effort we felt this had better be worth it. Once again we were not to be dissapointed.
We stayed in this amazing hostel in the hills with an unbelievable view of the lake and mountains. It's a bit of an insult to call the place a hostel to be honest as the facilities as well as the views were so outsanding. You could have spent a week just looking at the view and not get bored and for a day or two thats pretty much all we did as we needed to unwind after some hard travelling. This really was the prefect place to do it.
On our last full day we thought we'd better do something so we booked a day white water rafting. The water levels in the area were very high so the white knuckle rafting wasn't available so we had to do a fairly easy ride down the river. The area and views were once again so georgous that it made for a really lovely day out, especially as the weather turned really warm again.
Bariloche is sadly our last destination in Argentina. In our all too brief stay here, every place we has visited has been top drawer. Its truly an amazing country and we wish we could have visited some more places but time isn't at a premium when we want to go to so many places in our time in South America. It has amazing and diverse scenery, fabulous food, wonderously cheap prices and despite the language difficulties, really friendly people. In short, get your arses out here as soon as possible!!
