Jo's Most Excellent Adventure
Hi everyone, or should I say G'day mates!
I've been having a wicked time here in Sydney for the past week or so and have packed in so much! After my first days 24hr sleepathon, followed by the super cliff top trek to Bondi, I needed to chill out for a few days. Lisa was still in the States at that point so I just hung out with her flatmate Theo and her cat Tigerlily, who is huuuuugggee and would beat Millie in a fight! Crazy cat likes sitting in the bath and drinking from the drip from the shower....niiice! Went and got some of my photos miniproofed which makes them look really cool and arty and Theo was kind enough to highlight all the best shopping spots on my map of the city....don't worry despite going to some fantastic designer sample sales and vintage stores have been super restrained! It's a hard life being a poor backpacker! Spent a super intensive day sightseeing, did the Harbour Bridge, Sydney Harbour, Taronga Zoo, OzTrek Exhibition and the Australian Museum all in one day.....veeerrry sleepy Jo. Had a really good time at the museum, they had an exhibition on pearls on which was really interesting as they are my jewellery of choice atm! Also got to find out a bit more about indigenous Australia which was great.
Sydney is fantastic and arty, been checking out some super cool galleries in the Rocks, got a number of artists contact details so I can get their stuff tax free back home. Went to the Contemporary Art Gallery today which was also good, saw a really cool photo exhibition by Sam Tyler Wood and left feeling all inspired!
Lisa's back now and we went out last night for a few drinks and a bite to eat. It's great to catch up and she took me on a mini car tour of Sydney, so I'm really getting my bearings now. I was even able to give directions to Coogee beach today! (Hope they were right!) Could deffo stay here a really long time, but my bus tickets booked for the 1st, then I head north to Port Stephens to go swimming with dolphins again in Nelson Bay. Guess you could say I've got the dolphin swimming bug! Not a great deal planned for the weekend, going to borrow Lisa's bike tomorrow, cycle Centennial Park and shoot some hoops. Netball's so huge out here they have huge courts and posts in all of the parks so that's a happy afternoon planned for me!!
Hope you're all coping with all that nasty revision back home for exams and the suchlike! Seems like a world away from me....ooops it is! Love to you all.
Jo
