We have been lucky, it's been very smooth sailing. The trains in and out of Singapore city took a little figuring out but it worked and the weather was perfect right up until the second we boarded the train back to the airport - at which time it BUCKETED down ... But we were dry :)
People have said Lufthansa would be a bit spartan, but the flight from Singapore to Frankfurt was great. The plane was an A 380 with truck loads of footroom, best food and being just behind the cockpit (first class is upstairs on the second story) the trip was super quiet - so this is how first class get it !
We negotiated the metro to the station next to the Eiffel Tour without too much trouble and had a great stay in Paris.
I thought winter tourism in Paris might be quieter, but if our time in Paris was off-peak then I won't be back in peak season, cameras everywhere most seemed to be European though, only heard a couple of American accents and a couple of British over three days. We didn't get to Montmatre in the end as we decided to do the whole day on foot which took longer than expected, the fallout can be seen in the picture of Paige from when we got back to the hotel, she basically walked in, sat down and zzzzzzzzz.
Paris has really upped its game, it now has 3 public toilets ! of course one was closed ... but as long as you can cross your legs for as long as it takes to find them you can be assured you may get to one of the other two in time to stand in line for 30 mins with everyone else.
We are in Brussels now, which is an awesome relief, no more queues and the pace is so much more relaxed than Paris. The Christmas spirit here is awesome, we arrived about midday off the train and started hitting the pavement again, found the Christmas market, grabbed. Mulled wine, some roasted nuts in chocolate and started wandering again buying sausage, baguettes and cheese for dinner and just soaking it all up in the lovely 7 - 9 degree weather I've surprised myself ... I am really enjoying the cool weather (could it be the mulled wine ?) We just got back from Grand Place whe we watched some of the light and music show, we will go back for more tomorrow night and probaby have dinner while we watch the show, I'll try and post the little vid i took tonight. Planning a tour of Brussels landmarks tomorrow and then off to Germany the following day and will be sure to get the kids to update the blog.
