Terry and I landed without any problems in LA. we made sure to plan for Moms arrival at the airport because we were all a little worried about not being able to connect. We made a dry run and luckily they let us get a security pass so we could meet her right as she came off the plane. Terry also got us boarding passes a day early from Japan Air. Japan Air has ABSOLUTELY lovely help. They moved our seats so Terry could be close to Mom and I in the Premiun Seats, and she booked Mom in early too. (she helped go the the front of all the lines the next day, and helped us all the way through. We boarded before First Class!)
After we felt we knew how to get Mom all greeted up! We shuttled to the hotel and napped for an hour because poor Terry had not slept all night! Then we took a bus to Venice Beach. That was really interesting! It used to be the Venice of America in the 20s, fell into seedy tomes along the beachfront, then was reinvented by hippies, boarders etc.. And now is a Haight Ashbury type place filled with eccentric types, boarders, roller skaters...We watched quite skilled boarders skate on a wild skatepark. One young girl was adorable, only 10, and waiting her turn with all the big guys. We sampled a great crispy pizza slice, chili fries with a cool Stella Artois, then topped it off with great fish tacos at Danny's (from he movie I Love You Man). Then to top off the fun crazy afternoon we went to take the bus and had to wait 1.5 hours!! Finally home, snuggled in the lovely soft bed and slept for 10 hours!
