Buenos dias! Come esta?! so the spanish is SLOWLY coming along, especially as i am only speaking english in the hostel because everyone is either canadian or american!!
So yer the journey here was terrible, and really took it out of us the first day. But it still hasn't stopped me drinking! The secret garden hostel is soo cool, its like the travellers social point from all the local hostels around. hearing other peoples travelling stories has made me more excited for what is ahead of us!met some auzzie dudes and a mental scottish guy last night who drink so much they make us brits look tame! the scot claimed to have spent $4000 in one week! and from his performance last night i wouldnt doubt it!
but anyway enough of the boozing side of travelling! ecuador is so nice. went to the middle of the earth yesterday *the ecuator, not lord of the rings* with two canadians, a us girl and another brit who we bumped into on the way. it was very cheesy and typically touristy but had to be done as there is not alot to do in quito. it took two hours on the bus system *which is very hard to use as the spanish is so fast, so the british guy became our tour guide!* which is unbeleivably cheap. it cost 35 centimos to go about 20km. not bad at all! So we got there and stood on the ecuator *massive antclimax!* and then tried some guinea pig whcih tasted slightly fishy which is weird!
the weather isnt so great. the sun is hot when it decides to come out but as we are in raining season it rains...alot! and when it rains i dont mean pathetic british drizzle, i mean full on bad boy rain that gets you soaked! but its all part of the experience!
anyway today is going to be a slow one, hoping to go to the amazon early next week for four days and then to the coast for some sun!!
anyway hasta luego!! x
