This morning, we walked over to the Museo Nacional de Arte. We made our way up to the 2nd floor first. The exhibits were comprised of paintings of Christian figures. They were nice, though felt somewhat samey considering I've gone through several European art museums. The 1st floor had paintings of Mexico throughout the period following European settlement. There were paintings of cities and landscapes, Aztecs, and Conquistadors. There was also a section featuring Greek and Roman sculptures and paintings, again similar to what one would see in a lot of European museums.
We then took a walk around the area and checked out Palacio Postal, which featured ornate architecture. We briefly stepped into Palacio de Bellas Artes before walking through Alameda Central, a public park. We then stopped off at a nearby restaurant where we had paella and sangria, which were very good.
We took a stroll through some nearby streets before calling it a day. We must have gone through a "lighting" district considering the stores over a few blocks were predominantly stores selling lights and lighting accessories. There was some heavy rainfall starting in the late afternoon, early evening. Unfortunately, our trip coincided with the rainy season.
