The hotel 'IBIS' is great, budget hotel 7euro each a night with nice rooms air condition and broadband in the room, what more would you need. Went for a walk around Xian, It's so much nicer than Beijing a friendlier environment full of students with a lot of universities . There seemed to be a lot of ethnic groups begging, most deserving money, one couple were singing the guy had received what looked like horrific burns with both his eye lids melted shut, the women wasn't much better. Another women lying on the ground with a brace protected a broken back. The proudest one was a ex army officer, displaying his pictures ,still in an army jacket, he was as upright as he could possible be given the loss of both his legs. Later that night we passed him, still standing proud, he had amassed a big stack of money. I suppose everyone could identify with his misfortune. Had a beer in a student bar to wind down, the lively staff made me like this city even more.
