Boarded a 1030 flight from Sydney scheduled to land in Buenos Aires, same day, same time (1045 Sun 4). Got about 4 hours into the flight when a stewardess hurriedly cleared all of our plates (we had a lamb rack with potatoes for a main, and beautiful ocean trout for starters). I definitely had a few rums/bacardis/beers! I was seated in 26A, liv 26B (so I'm in the window seat). having cleared our plates away she told us we were landing in Christchurch. Obviously our resonse was "...ummm? Were flying to Argentina not New Zealand?" Surely enough we landed later on, but in Auckland, North Island. We were told to wait patiently while the groundstaff attempted to fix the problem. So we waited for 2 hours in our seats, to be then told we were disembarking shortly, I didn't expect to be staying the night in New Zealand at all. The hotel they put Liv an I in was the Auckland NOvotel, with the other business class passengers, a stones throw from the international departures, literally. Turns out the 50cm of air-con ducting had dislodged and was flapping about and unfortunately disrupted the passengers in the rear of the aircraft!.. So the dramas continue... We were given food vouchers from the Novotel restaraunt "Square" which was great (only a buffet) though. I was tired, but semi-excited for Liv because this was here first time in NZ, although unexpectedly. We were told that our flight was leaving some time in the morning and there was no way of finding out when before we slept. Sooo... we got up at 6am (4am Sydney time) and found a little apology note from QANTAS. Our flight was due to leave at 12pm midday. We get there (airport) at 10am, with EVERYONE ELSE. And of course there was no staff check-in! We lined up for ages and finally got the exact same seats in business! It seemed like our luck had turned around somewhat. And so, after another 'random' search of me, which happens everytime I go to anywhere on airlines, even departing sydney yesterday. This was no dramas at all.We get to a bar, we sit down, watch Sally Pearson win a race. Then we get to the gate at 11:32. Perfect timing (we thought). Then a lady behind the desk says "there will be another delay of 40 minutes due to catering issues". There were a lot of ARgentinians yelling "no tenemos demasiado pacienca!" (or something like that)... obvious. So we got onboard/take off, but of course at a later time. Considering this delay specifically for catering, I had assumed this would mean we would be catered for? Me an liv were staff, so we got leftovers pretty much :( But I stole toblerones from the bar area so we're even now! We're now 2:12 out from Buenos Aires, its still dark, I got changed into my antips gear and am ready to go (I think).
Spent the whole trip except about 40 minutes awake, tried to put myself to sleep with a few tinnies of tsingtao but to no avail. Listened to Bon Iver's album about 4 times compeltely, Michael Bublé live in Madison Square Gardens, wathced the movie, "The Priest" ...bulls***... Filling out arrival card which we luckily kept from our Sydney leg because the staff conveniently don't have any on this leg, TO BUENOS AIRES. 2 hours to go, should be good! Also, crazy Columbian baggage handler befriended me in Sydney. Suspicious...
